Porki Society

My colleague Sharine treated me for my very belated birthday lunch at Porki Society, Taman Paramount.

I ordered the Set Meal for RM 19.90 that contains 4 types of boat noodles of Thai Noodles in dry and wet style and also bihun in dry and wet style. I really liked the dry Thai noodles very much which was infused thoroughly with sauces.

The side dishes of Thai BBQ sausage was so tender. There was also BBQ pork stick which was so succulent and juicy.

Also included is milk tea/green tea milk/coffee milk. Believe me and don't order the coffee which has too much coffee. Mine also came with sago coconut dessert but I am not a big fan of sago.

My friend's RM 9.90 tom yam fried rice was amazing with a lot of flavour inside. It also came together with lemongrass drink.

The pork ball (RM 5.90) was not as good as the BBQ pork sticks.

Foo Foo Fine Desserts

Since it's my birthday on 24 June and mum wanted to treat me, I decided to come here as I have been having this wish ever since I saw my colleague's son Facebook post on this.

The place looks cosy and unpretentious with the decoration looking like a cafe of my mother or grandmother's era. They even used the calendar as one of the wall decorations!

Being a Friday, there were not many people there except us.

Bombe Alaska (RM 25)

This is a beautiful masterpiece that looks more like a sweet rose made from meringue than what the name suggests. It is served with fire lighted on it. Inside is not chocolate cake but gingerbread topped of with lemongrass ice-cream and also dried cranberries. The dessert is set alight with a little rum. The chef said this item is either you like it or you don't because many people cannot stand the pungent smell of lemongrass. For me, I love it!

It is my most special birthday cake ever without a candle as the chef would not want me to destroy his masterpiece.

Crispy Profiteroles (RM 22)

These are just amazing crispy pastries with salted caramel coffee ice-cream in between like hamburgers. The profiteroles sit on slices of grilled orange which makes this really special. My friend and mother said that these are similar with mum's homemade cream puff but I beg to differ.

Chocolate Rose (RM 12)

This is supposedly premium hot chocolate but I still prefer it with more rose petals like the one at Owl Cafe Bukit Jalil.

Iced Apple Cinnamon (RM 12)

We felt this is too light and tasteless.

The fine dining desserts here are definitely better than the one at Marini's 57. They also change the menu every month and would remove and replace with 1 new item.

Purple Cane Tea Restaurant @ Paradigm Mall

I went to Paradigm Mall because I needed to get some things from Kaison. We were so hungry and just thought of going to Purple Cane since it has been a long time since I have there. There was a big crowd there. I was disappointed there are no set meals today. We were too embarassed to go off and I just simply ordered these as my companion was too hungry and had a sour face.

It seems that Purple Cane has been renovated with a slightly contemporary look yet retains the old ancient style with the type of bowls used.

Sourish Preserved Guava Appetizer (RM 3)

The guava is the only item tasty here.

Tea Beancurd (RM 19)

I am a big fan of beancurd so I usually order beancurd whenever we go for dachao. I just order this because it is one of the cheapest in the menu and yet taste good. I am not sure why all the tea items here doesn't really have tea taste.

Black Fungus Chicken Hotpot (RM 23)

This is the other dish I usually don't order because it looks similar to what we eat at the economic rice stall. Anyway, I ordered this because the fish items are too expensive at RM 39 for simple fish meat curry but I don't even like fish meat. The chicken is fragrant but I felt the full price of RN 64.85 for a meal here is overpriced for normal common every day dish.

The brown rice here costs RM 2.60 per bowl.

Xiang Man Qing Restaurant

Xiang Man Qing is a big Chinese Sichuan-Hunan restaurant operated by China Chinese boss. It is located in Fraser Business Park.

The appetizer were cabbage preserved in a whole lot of chilli till it is too spicy.

Pork on Hanger (RM 32)

One of my favourite food here is the Pork on Hanger (RM 32). I really like this thinly sliced pork till my guilt of eating fatty pork was hidden aside! I even stole others' share, excusing myself  by saying they have tried the same food before. There is chilli oil served in the middle. The meat is presented so beautifully, that from seeing the photo and from afar, it looks like they are mere sliced cucumber!

 Garlic Crayfish (RM 68)

The presentation is really pretty here whereby the crayfish is arranged in the form of a flower. The sauce is also very sweet. Underneath are bamboo slices.

Hand-Grabbed Lamb Rib (RM 68)

When this item arrived, the smell is very pungent due to the high amount of big round pepper used. The lamb ribs are roasted till super dry and one could easily eat this like how the cavemen do it.

Salted Egg Yolk Prawn (RM 28)

It looks like any normal steamed egg with fake crab meat. We initially thought there would be lala inside.

Seafood Thai (RM 128)

This is the priciest of the lot as it contains a lot of seafood like small crab, bamboo clams, lala, prawns, scallops, 1 whole fish and straw mushrooms. The sauce is also quite tasty.

Garlic Vermicelli Steamed Prawn (market price)

This is my other favourite food whereby I had eaten 3 pieces of the prawns that are beautifully arranged. The garlic and prawn juices combination make this really sweet.

Spicy Chicken Gizzard (RM 32)

I am not sure about others but I kind of fancy chicken gizzard. They cooked with crunchy greens and also traditional Sichuan chili.

Pepper Pig Stomach & Chicken Soup (RM 48)

Drinking this is nostalgic as it brings back memories of my babysitter cooking this whenever we pray to our ancestors. The soup is very sweet and has strong pepper taste. The portion is very big, in a large claypot.

Boiled Beef (RM 42)

The beef is cooked with bean sprouts and a lot of chilli oil.

I also take a liking to the Herbal Tea which is not overly sweet.
