Chynna at Hilton KL

Chynna at Hilton KL is truly a Chinese restaurant that lives up to the sophistication of Hilton internationally, well in an oriental style. Even from far, one is greeted by a Chinese roofed restaurant entrance and 2 long headed sprouted teapots on the antique cabinet.

Inside, the interior is full of red lantern-like lighting and right in the middle, the & Flowers Tea (the welcome drink) ingredients that are poured out through tea kung fu by a China kung fu tea server which many customers enjoy watching. The result is the sweetest tea I ever had, even better than the other pu er etc tea served in the restaurant.

The crockery and cutlery used all have pictures of ancient Chinese drawings.

Right in front of the restaurant, around the balcony, there are tables for those wanting to dine outside and end with a big private room for those VIP who dines more than RM 5000 worth of meal.

This is one of the few places where they have a Wine Expert to serve you and advise on the type of wine to pair with the food ordered.

Seafood Fried Rice (RM 36)

It is very simple and to me, the fried rice at Grand Hyatt is much better with more clear and visible seafood like scallops compared to the small chopped ones here.

Sambal (RM 10)

The sambal is so precious that it costs RM 10 for a small plate which to me, is not that special!

Jiang Nan Noodles (RM 40)

After dining here, I learnt the true meaning of ONE portion which means really small! The hor fun is just normal and not that special.

Sweet Nian Gao with Macadaemia Nut (RM 19)

The nian gao is something very normal in Chinese community as something that the Hokkien people pray to the Emperor of Heaven on the 9th Day of Chinese New Year to ensure that he brings only sweet and good news about the household to heaven.

Sweet Potato Dessert (RM 19)

This comes in oval shaped balls that look like what we eat at dim sum restaurant

Macadaemia Gelato with Mango Puree (RM 25)

To me, this one of the star items here as the sweet gelato blends well with the sour taste of the mango puree amazingly!

Hana Dining + Sake Bar

Since next week is Mother's Day, I brought my mother to Japanese food which is her favourite. Also, it has been a long time since I last ate here. Me and Jonathan ate here during one of our dates last 2 years. At that time, this restaurant only served course meal and no ala-carte. Currently, they have a very big variety of food on the menu to be ordered ala-carte. We had the 5-course meal advertised as for 2 pax but in actual fact, I think it is for 3 pax as we couldn't finish it fully in the past and had to waste some of the food.

Miso soup is included and it was quite normal, but not salty which is good.

Green Tea cost RM 2 per cup but after we ordered it, we were told the Italian Still Water is free for us! Haiz...

Shake Kawa Salad

The salad portion is very huge and looks like it is catered for more than 1 pax! I love the crispy salmon skin and also smashed salmon with the special sourish dressing and salad.

Tsuke Shiro Maguro

The maguro is so fresh and maguro never bores me. In fact, I have missed not having maguro in the buffet at Gen@10 Sunway Putra Hotel last week. The maguro is so soft, fresh and melted in my mouth together with the fish roe sprinkled on top.

Salmon on Fire Maki

I have had the same maki when I last came here and today I ordered it again as it is one of the most special item just to have the fire on top. Even if you order it ala-carte, the price of RM 28 is quite reasonable compared to other places. I like the fact that the rice is very little and the filling a whole lot more! Also the fact there was no taste of mayo like how Sushi King or Sakae Sushi or all the other local eateries do it.

Salmon Teriyaki

We are almost like having a salmon-ny meal today. The salmon teriyaki has a whole dosage of thick teriyaki sauce on soft juicy salmon meat unlike the hardened grilled salmon commonly found in Malaysia.

Saba Gohan

This is a special mini claypot rice cooked with chopped saba fish and big bubbly salmon roe. It is very fragrant and tasty and cooked just nice with not too much sauce like how the Malaysian claypot rice is made and cooked till burnt at the bottom.

Raspberry Matcha Cake

This is like fine-dining styled when it is served. The matcha is also very thick on tofu-textured cake that doesn't have the cream or mousse or sponge type texture like how the cakes are outside. At the bottom is biscuit crumb as the base.

Shiro Goma Ice-Cream

The white sesame ice-cream has very strong taste of white sesame, among the strongest I have ever eaten. I bet the matcha ice-cream is also as tasty.

Grand Hyatt KL

I had the privilege to dine at Grand Hyatt for dinner in such an amazing ambience and sophistication. So I should at least document that special chance I had!

1. Marinated Octopus with sesame, deep fried crab claw, marinated pacific clam with sugar snap peas, fried prawns.

I would always be the person to never say NO to octopus of kind.

The deep fried crab claw is just normal and not that great, just like one of those fishball stuff.

The fried prawns are the best and just superb!

At another time, I tried the jellyfish which I like but not my friend who said that it was too rough. I love jellyfish of any kind.

The pacific clams with crunchy mixed vegetables like chick peas, black fungus, capsicum are just amazing as combo.

2. Double-boiled chicken soup with mushroom, bamboo pith and conpoy

I totally am in love with double-boiled soup which was so strong and flavoursome and tasty.

3. Steamed Garoupa with Ginger and Spring Onion

The Garoupa is the biggest I have ever eaten. It is so succulent, juicy and soft. My favourite is the tail and head and eyes!

Another option of prawn that I also like is this

4. Crispy Prawn with Golden Sand

This is one special prawn that each of us enjoyed the crispiness that results from the bread crumbs cooked together. The prawns are also very fresh.

5. Crispy Chicken with Garlic

I love the crispy chicken skin so much. Coming from a person who doesn't eat meat skin since young means I am serious about it genuinely

6.  Broccoli with Mushroom and Dry Scallops

My friend likes the broccoli a lot whereas for me, I prefer the dry scallops because I am crazy over anything with scallops inside.

6. Seafood Fried Rice

I am someone who doesn’t fancy fried rice much so it must be crazy when I finished the entire bowl because I like the scallops and prawn pieces so much! Also the seafood chunks made it look very premium.

The Vegetarian Fried Rice Version:

7. Chinese Petit Fours Peanut Mochi and Red Bean Bun

I really like the red bean bun which has very thin pastry and a lot of thick paste.

8. Chilled Mango Cream with Pomelo and Sago

The mango cream is just superb and has that hint of mango that I favour most. The pomelo and sago combination is fresh and matches well. It also doesn’t have the strong santan taste.
