Putien @ Gurney Paragon Penang

Can you believe it that is my first time eating at Putien? Well, to me, Chinese fine-dining seems to be a waste of money for me as I thought we could easily eat Chinese food at any Chinese kopitiam or restaurant. However, I only came to Putien after mum said there is a Premium set lunch at RM82.80 for 2 pax which still has the best quality of Putien at lower price.

Appetizers alone were just amazing pickles whereas the seaweed with mini shrimps dressed with sauce was addictive!

Though I dislike ham, I have to admit the Yam Pork Ribs was unique, with thick yam paste sauce enveloping all the pork ribs.

Bamboo Herbal Prawn Soup (served in 2), was the epitome of fine dining. The best part were the presence of 2 prawns in each bamboo. The soup was so refreshing, fragrant, sweet that it brings you to the moon with every sip!

Putien Lor Mee - though it looks simple, it was Silky Putien noodles with pork belly, prawn and clam in luscious pork broth.

The Chrysanthemum Wolfberry Pudding was so refreshing, and cooling!

It was totally an amazing experience dining here with family and friends and saving cost!

Nicsmann 1940s by Lewre

Ever since I saw a lot of bloggers posting on this sophisticated restaurant and bistro in Starling Mall,  I was attracted yet not really sure about the price, then recently, I was just thinking of just trying it straightaway on last weekend with my family without thinking too much, after all, life is about trying, and you never know what happens to your life the next day....

On weekends, there is live band at 9 pm. There seems to be many patrons here. Be prepared for a high price like RM 266.90 but without a fulfilling meal for the stomach if you were to eat here so I guess it means coming here on special occasions for commoners.

Hainanese Chicken Chop (RM 28)

This is one of the more reasonably priced items in the menu besides those like lamb which costs RM 70 above. The chicken chop comes in big portion and quite tasty and not oily as usual.

3 Ribs Grilled Australian Rack of Lamb (RM 70)

The lamb is just succulent, juicy and tender! My dad, Jonathan and me happen to love lamb. This item is the one that cost our receipt to go sky rocket high.

F.D. Pasta with Grilled Salmon (RM 39.90)

This is the star must-have item, whereby the cheese is scraped off a giant Parmigiano Reggiano Parmesan Cheese Wheel and then added to the boiled pasta. The whole process is done at the live cooking station. The result is an absolutely creamy pasta with delicious salmon pieces.

Baked Cheese Tiger Prawn (RM 31)

This is a big let down as expected it to be huge but it turned out to be small, and the hardened cheese in the prawn gave me a big a disappointment.

Sunshine (RM 45)

Dad's chilled apple juice costs RM 13 whereas the Sunshine Cocktail which is almost like pina colade in very thick version, was a big of a let down as there was too much pulp that didn't blend well with the rum.

Cristallo di Luna

WOW time really flies! It is already one year since our marriage on 26th Nov 2016! We celebrated in style at Cristallo di Luna in Pacific Regency Hotel which is located just opposite KL Tower.

Actually the restaurant is just another air-conditioned restaurant and not around the rooftop pool like how Luna Bar is. Being the camwhoring me, I went to Luna Bar to take some photos. There was a Redbull party there.

Luckily I googled and found an app called eatigo.com whereby booking through the app enabled us to enjoy 50% off all the food (excluding beverage) here.

I wanted to order the prawn and scallop appetizer but it was unavailable. Then we wanted to order the sea bass but it was unavailable so finally we had to order two meat items.

Lamb Rack (RM 68.91)

The lamb rack is one of the first items we ordered and it was tender, juicy and tasty. It came together with asparagus and carrot.

Beef Cheek (RM 72.90)

This is the other item we had to order due to not having fish or seafood here. Perhaps they didn't store any expensive seafood since there were not many guests here anyway. To Jonathan, the beef cheek doesn't look nice to be photographed at all as they were just a bunch of beef cubes on a bed of mashed potatoes.

The view here is not as spectacular as Skybar/Marini's/Troika Sky Dining, as the place doesn't have outdoors with balcony to overlook the sky view.

There were 3 tables decorated very beautifully with the window view, as though there are 3 wedding proposals but even when we were going back, we didn't see any couple. I felt that they should not have done this elaborate decoration and deprived us from dining there though we are also paying customers.

The air cond was also so cold that it cooled down all the food we ordered.

We were still hungry after dinner and went to Pavillion food court, to eat Tarbush Turkish kebab and also kolo mee! OK, I also went there to take photos of the Christmas Decoration!

Thank god we had discount of 50% otherwise it really would be a big regret for us.
