Black and White

This is my first time to Summit to go to the hair saloon, called Feel Good hair saloon which was not that good in dyeing hair and turned out they did not know how to even touch up the same blonde colour that I had. I ended up having to colour my hair again before my photoshoot at i-concept hair studio in USJ near Main Place.

Anyway, due to my shopaholicness for shop for the cheap shoes in the sale, we ended up having dinner here to save time used for food-hunting.

The food at Black and White is amazingly cheap and tasty which explains the big crowd here.

Set 1C : Nyonya Chicken with rice and iced lemon tea (RM 9.90)

The nyonya chicken is qutie tasty with the thick sauce. The sauce is also full of strong flavours and also long beans.

Lai Wong Chicken Chop (RM 15.90)

This is the most fragrant fried chicken I have ever tried with curry leaves sprinkled on top and also french fries and coleslaw (that was not too much mayonaise) at the side. I would definitely revisit this cafe for the cheap and delicious food.

Madame Waffle

We were shopping in Sunway Pyramid on last Sunday and got hungry. We went to Madame Waffle and tried the Chocolate with Salted Caramel Waffle which turned out to be so sweet. It was made a set at RM 16-18 together with iced coffee which thankfully, was not sweet. I wanted to add in gelato ice-cream but refrained myself as it would add up to more than RM 30 for this.

We also ordered a matcha waffle for RM 4.90.

The waffles are all too sweet and too soft instead of being as crispy as thought initially.

Martin Kary Salt Cave Japanese Restaurant

We were supposed to go to Hemisphere for my birthday but at the very last minute, and after getting fed up of calling Hemisphere for an hour on 24 June to ask whether they still have the set lunch for RM 49.90, finally I gave up. In addition, I saw that the set lunch PDF was pulled out of the website! Too bad I didn't get to dine at my dream place. Thank god I was clever enough to find a plan b  which is this place, Martin Kary Salt Cave Japanese Restaurant, which was just opened last Thursday.

It seems unique for a man-made salt infused restaurant. But the stalagmites are not that big as I imagined it to be. Fancy having a Japanese restaurant opened by Iranians? It's true!

There were many lunch crowd due to the RM 13.46 set lunches that comes with choices of either chicken, butterfish, lamb (seriously!), etc.

I regretted not pressing further when he said I could not have 30% discount as I did not have any voucher. Later I found out that one of the waiters was distributing the vouchers at the lift near Michelangelo restaurant! :(

The top floor is reachable through a white spiral staircase and there are many white semi circle tables and also a private room upstairs.

Butterfish Teppanyaki Set Lunch (RM 13.46)

The fish is just amazing and succulent, soft to the core. It is served with Chai Sim and bean sprouts cooked teppanyaki style. I love the sauce a lot.

Sliced Lamb  Teppanyaki Set Lunch (RM 13.46)

Can you imagine having LAMB teppanyaki at this price? The lamb slices are also wonderful and flavoursome.

Smoked Kamo Teppanyaki (RM 23.32)

This is actually the signature dish that many bloggers say not to be missed! It's smoked duck slices cooked with ginger citrus zest. This is served with chick peas, broccoli and dried mushrooms.

Squid Fried Rice Bento (RM 13.46)

Dad chose this. The squid fried rice is one of the best I have ever eaten in terms of fried rice as I am not a fan of fried rice generally. It also comes with 2 fried  shimsamo which fried till crispy. There are also salad, miso soup and a small portion of pickles.

Aburi Sushi (RM 25.44)

Despite my initial preconception that the sushi would not be that delicious, his is quite delicious. In fact, each fish is different and there was even octopus! I wish I could have more of this!

Jyu Raku

Today is Jonathan's birthday and his birthday is one day before mine. What a coincidence! On 22 June, we went to our favourite Japanese restaurant whereby the chefs are Japanese too called Jyu Raku in Subang SS15.

We sat at a private corner at the top floor, sitting on the floor but without folding the legs Japanese style.

The appetizer for Wednesday was the most incredible in my life! I mean no other Japanese restaurant is so generous to serve jellyfish for appetizer as this is very expensive!

We had the RM 62 set which is so worth the price as it comes with the best grilled salmon that is not too dry. Also inside is the best and most worth it priced, wagyu beef (almost six slices!) cooked teppanyaki style with cabbage. The other greatest part was the fresh raw sashimi of maguro, salmon, another type of fish, octopus (thinly sliced) and lovely soft tamago. There was also mixed tempura cooked with smooth batter. In the middle there was crab meat with pickled seaweed.

We also ordered a Curry Soba (RM 28) which has the best Japanese curry ever that didn't taste powdery. I have never tried curry soba! The portion was so big with super thick curry.

Tokyo Kicthen @ Citta Mall

The last experience we had at Tokyo Kitchen in One City USJ was a worthwhile dinner at 5 pm after watching our movie. So I thought there was no harm eating at its branch in Citta Mall. I was actually attracted by the supposedly raw oysters promotion of only RM 9.80 for 5 pieces of small oysters which are frozen instead of fresh.

Unagi Oiyu (S) (RM 36.90)

The unagi rice comes with a large portion of rice but very small portion of unagi so much so that I felt angry due to so few pieces that are not even soft enough.

Salmon Avocado Roll (RM 10.90)

The roll was done too rough and came with too much rice for a mouthful, so much that I could not even taste the salmon.

Assorted Sashimi (RM 28.90)

The sashimi was still frozen and not fresh. Worse than Sakae Sushi. Nothing else to say.

I ended up angry to have waste RM 107.60 for this meal and would rather spend it at one of the genuine Japanese restaurants in Subang.
