Ding's, Hub @ SS2

This was another of my appreciation lunches in Dec, happening on 16 Dec 2019, initiated by Janet Lai combined with Sharine Chin and Krystle Kee. It was the first time for me, Krystle and Sharine to visit Hubs @ SS2 and I found out it was like a food heaven with many artistic and pretty cafes whereby the prices are not too high.

Curry + Pork Schnitzel + Calrose Rice (RM18.90)

The portion is quite huge whereby there were 3 large pieces of deep fried pork, fried till crispy yet retained the juice inside.

Salmon + Greens + Calrose Rice + Sake Soup (RM28.90)

It was the first time for me to try Calrose Rice which I mistaken for being brown rice or some healthy rice but turned out to be like sushi rice. The salmon was pan-fried till the edges are crispy which was delicious. The sake soup didn't have much sake taste, much to my disappointment. I guess the Pork Schnitzel set was much better.

Set lunch - Lemongrass Chicken + Kangkung + Rice

I really like the onsen egg which was unique when paired this way as people normally don't serve it like this. The pairing here is unique yet tasty and healthy. The lemongrass chicken was also very fragrant and tasty when eaten with the acar, another of my favourite. I would have liked it with sambal too.

Steamed Mantou (RM19.90)

The steamed mantou was beautifully served with fatty pork, something I rarely eat, but since I had company, it reduces the guilt of eating fatty food.

Mango Passionfruit Smoothie (RM12)

The smoothie was thick and sweet, so thick that I could not drink it after the heavy meal since I rarely have so much carbs in 1 meal.

Valentine's Day 2017 at - I Am 80s

I AM CRAZY OVER ANYTHING VINTAGE AND RETRO! ANY I FINALLY FOUND THE PLACE!

My colleague first introduced me to this place during our Christmas gathering last year. I only managed to have time for this time Valentine's Day whereby both of us finished work quite late at 7.30 pm and most places were fully booked. I am the person who still think celebrations should be celebrated for memory sake and was glad I suggested to come here despite being 11 minutes drive from my Taman SEA.

The decoration is enough to make me think of the moment that I could post with them! The waitresses and waiters are so friendly and chirpy.

Bailey Chocolate Mousse (RM 16)

Guess what? I found my favourite alcoholic cake and had to order it though I was on a diet as were starving!

 Blueberry Yoghurt (RM 16)

The yoghurt drink is so thick and comes served in "I am 80s" jug with a lid that can be carried back home! Cool right!

Tortilla Pesto Smoked Duck (RM 13)

This was ordered to Alas Perut as we were both starving. Nothing special as the pesto was insufficient. After all, the highlight is coming next.

Sunburn Chicken (RM 30)

I was grateful we ordered this though it was just randomly picked as we didn't do prior research to find out the famous dishes here. The chicken was served in a spectacular fashion and came in such a big portion that both of us could not even finish it and had to tapau!

I so wish I could order the special dessert of thick toast served hot in a pan with maple syrup poured when served, but we were too full to the brim.

This was definitely a memorable Valentine's Day camwhoring together with so many photo opps!

Valentine's Day at Impressoul Gastrology

This is my first Valentine's Day with my husband! There were too many work events coming the next two weeks. Finally I just told him to have Valentine's Day lunch on 12 Feb 2017 instead of the real day since I have a monthly meeting the next day which needs preparation.

He decided to go to Impressoul Gastrology, a newly opened bar-bistro-restaurant that serves Korean-Japanese fusion food. The chefs are also Koreans!

As you enter the restaurant, from afar, lo and behold, be amazed by the awesome light decoration at the sides which changes colours to pink, green and yellow etc.

The owners must have been very meticulous as all the furniture are custom-made from the chairs with cow skin seats to the cutlery imported from Korea, I guess! There are also two private rooms, one upstairs for a bigger crowd and one at the ground floor with a big gigantic round table.

The set meals are more special than the ala carte ones, something very different from other restaurants. So here is what we have tried:

Bulgogi Bento Lunch Set (RM 32)

The bulgogi beef is served in very unique method ie on a small frying pan.

I also like the healthy salad and the fruits of kiwi and strawberry.

The chawanmushi even came with big bobbly fish roe. The appetizers like seaweed and and also tamago were also tasty.

There is additional cost of RM 2 for add on brown rice tea instead of what I thought to be add-on brown rice for the set!

Kaba-yaki Unagi Don (RM 31.13)

I have been having craving for unagi so we ordered this but I was a bit disappointed as the unagi was river eel instead of the normal eel. But the rice was special with some tiny-choped capsicum too.

Red Dragon Mocktail (RM 14.15)

This is dragonfruit beetroot juice.

There is special stairway that looks so secretive and leads to a separate cool-looking outta space hangout area that has TV and live sports shows too.
