Ever since we saw the FB advertisement of Omurice, we were fascinated. Jonathan even wanted to go there before our Japan trip but we didn't have time.
Making the egg runny and soft and cheesy really needs a certain skill. Initially, I wondered how people could sell Omurice for such expensive price using just plain eggs, fried rice and curry...
Little did I know, that Omurice is just amazing, with its runny egg overflowing out lending a whole lot of mouthwatering flavours, when we cut it open. The fried rice is also tasty full of flavours.
Omulab is also surprisingly halal, so Muslims can eat here safely unlike Omurice in Japan. The place is so packed on Labour's Day and those who are later than 12.30 pm, had to queue for a long time, thankfully I came early at 11.30 am.
They sell Omurice and also Omu No Rice meaning things like hamburger and yakisoba which I plan to try another time.
Omu Mentaiko (RM 21.90)
The cheapest Omu Rice is priced at RM 18.90 for normal Omurice with curry. The Mentaiko sauce is special as its cooked with ebiko hence the pinkish colour. I kept scooping the ebiko sauce.
Omu Demiglace (RM 22.90)
This comes with beef bacon fried together with the rice till super fragrant! Incredible! We just could not get enough of the rice and bacon. There is an accompanying brownish sauce that's almost like black pepper sauce to go together.
Omu Black & White (RM 23.90)
This is the winner of all the Omurice we ordered as it comes with squid ink fried rice inside with very fluffy and runny egg on top and white cream sauce. The rice is bursting with flavours and the price is worth it with the squid and also prawn inside.
Hot Matcha Sakura Rose Latte (RM 13)
I have always been keen towards rose latte or anything with sakura inside. The sakura and rose was covered by the overpowering and thick matcha. Somehow drinking matcha is a bad idea as matcha is too thick to go with overly creamy omurice.
Hot Salted Genmaicha Latte (RM 12)
Stephanie's salted matcha latte was also as thick as mine, the only difference, they serve the Japanese salt separately which tasted good too.
