Mimi Nguyen Cafe

I have been aiming this Vietnamese cafe for quite a while and have always wanted to eat this. So I persuaded him to eat with me. He doesn't like Vietnamese food much but I love it. This is so original and genuine as it is fully operated by Vietnamese. Even the customers are Vietnamese.

We had trouble communicating with the Vietnamese waitress as she couldn't understand much Mandarin though she could speak a little Mandarin. So we failed to cancel the Beef Pho which arrived later. At least better than she almost ordered 2 bowls for us.

Pho (Beef Noodle) [RM 11.80]

There is just a small portion of the pho and the beef slices are just amazing. I was so greedy to have a lot of spice from the very spicy Vietnamese chilli inside the soup that I ended up with my eyes getting so red.

Goi Cuon (Vietnamese Rice Handroll) [RM 7.80]

This is weird as I expected that it should be original and the best in a Vietnamese shop but the skin is too hard and tasted like plastic. So I digged all the ingredients to eat.

Ca Hu Kho To (Claypot Patin Fish) [RM 9.80]

The patin cooked with caramel is so juicy, succulent and smooth and as tasty as I thought it to be.

Bo La Lot (Vietnamese Beef Wrap) [RM 13.80]

This is the weirdest with the beef wrapped with leaf and then barbecued till it became black. There are big sides of leaves, salad, cucumber and special sauce to go with.

Tra Xanh Khong Do (Lemon Green Tea) [RM 5.80]

This is served in its original bottle format and is quite tasty with sourish taste inside.

Rau Ma Dan Xanh (Pennywort Juice) [RM 7.80]

This is actually a mix of herbs and vegetables which resulted in very natural sweetness in the drink. I feel refreshed.

We were also given some special welcome drink.

Joanathan could not get used to all these weird traditional food whereas I finished every bit as I love salad.

Padi House @ Mitsui Outlet

This is our first time going to Mitsui Outlet as we heard the prices are quite cheap here. There was even a queue outside Nike. Every food outlet had a queue including Bari Uma, Senya, Don Don, Sushi King so we finally decided to come to Padi House.

Lamb Stew (RM 18.60)

The place is so busy that even our drinks didn't arrive first. It was a relief when my Lamb Stew arrived finally. The stew is just normal and looks like it is ready made whereby the premixed pastry is used on top. Thank god it is soft enough. The bottom had lamb stew.

Ham & Egg Sandwich (RM 15)

I initially thought this is expensive but it turned out to be cheaper than the one at The Loaf next door which costs RM 28! The egg is thinly sliced and coupled with ham. The best part is that nachos is served together with salsa dip, which made Jonathan's dream come true!

Melon Minty Lychee (RM 11)

The drinks here are more expensive than the food. Unfortunately, I could not savour this because my back tooth was suddenly painful when I drank anything cold or hard today.

Fiqs Gastronomy

We passed by this place so many times but we haven't gotten the chance to try the food here. Finally did it today after browsing so many cafes in SS18 and SS19.

The interior is clean and cosy with side sofa and cushions. All the tables are lined at the side. The lighting is just nice. There are also area outside for dining.

Oglio Linguine (RM 18)

The Oglio is done al dente unlike the other pasta outside in Malaysia and even beats the one in Westin or Ombak Villa Langkawi. It is not too oily too. We added bacon for RM 3 which.
 is quite reasonable.

Pizza Margherita (RM 25)

The pizza was just normal if I were not to add in mushroom for RM 6 which made it taste better and juicier. The pizza crust is crispy and fluffy at the side. The pizza is super huge and thin.

Warm water costs RM 0.50 for each glass.

We were too full so we canceled the Alaska meringue.

Lo Faro

I told my friend to bring me to somewhere I have never been before. She came to find me today and brought me to this secluded restaurant deep in the middle of the residential area, called Lo Faro which she said would be packed if we go at lunch time. The restaurant has some sort of vintage to it with big old fashioned British arm chairs.

Chicken Chop with Mushroom / Black Pepper Sauce (RM 17.90)

The meals here are quite reasonably priced at RM 17-20 plus. The chicken chop is super tender and succulent. The portion is also very big as it came with 4-6 pieces of baked potatoes with the skin intact, salad without the thousand island/mayonaise I hate.

Lo Faro Macchiato (RM 15)

The macchiato is double shot whereas they have specially made a teddy bear shaped foam especially for me.

Tiramisu Mascarpone Cake with Alcohol (RM 12.80)

The cakes here seem to more expensive than the main meals. The tiramisu is a MUST-TRY if you love alcohol which is very strong inside. Every bite has a strong flavour of alcohol that permeates the cream.

Chocolate Banana Cake (RM 10.80)

The chocolate is so rich and sinful. The bananas are not in big pieces like how Secret Recipe has theirs. The chocolate and banana totally binds in terms of flavours.

JEQ in the House

My colleague felt like going out for a drink so we went to the nearest place which is at Sec 17. The last time I went there was for a food review.

Rose Latte

I love ordering rose latte whenever I have the chance. They serve with a pretty creative design on it.

Latte

My friend ordered a latte which is dark coloured and look a bit like mocha.

Duck Pizza

The duck pizza doesn't taste like the one I ate before in the food review which is crispier and cut in rectangular shapes instead of the normal way of slicing pizza.

Kaffa @ Penang International Airport

Someone kept saying that I have worm in stomach as I am already hungry now after having dim sum and la mian for breakfast at Shanghai Ding, our favourite place near Queensbay Mall. So we had lunch at Kaffa, which is relatively new. I like the retro feel of this place.

Seafood Japanese 6" Crust (RM 13.87)

This is not tasty as the crust is not as crispy as Japanese pizza. I feel that the pizza is not tasty at all though there were juicy pineapples. It just taste weird to eat chicken pepperoni instead of the common reddish beef pepperoni. I could not even finish the pizza.

Chicken Popcorn (RM 12.45)

It seems weird that I actually like Chicken Popcorn! It is crispy yet one could taste the meat inside.

Hot Salted Caramel Macchiato (RM 14.43)

This is so far the best salted caramel macchiato I have had. The combination of of saltiness from the salt, sweetness of caramel, and bitterness of macchiato were simply perfect.

Chuka Cafe

Chuka Cafe is very difficult to even know its existence. Unless you stay in the neighbourhood or heard from word of mouth. I am very happy to learn about this great hideout inside Saujana Condo clubhouse. There is a creative bowl decoration in the middle. The most unique feature is why a Japanese cafe in a condo? Well, this is located in a condo where most of the residents are Japanese and opposite is a Japanese school.

Teppan Buta Kimuchi (RM 16)

Over here, we can order any ala-carte meal and just top up a mere RM 5 for white rice,  miso soup, a big piece of cold smooth Japanese tofu, a whole lot of stir-fried shredded cabbage and also 3 small pieces of honeydew. The top up price is the most worth while payment I have ever paid. For the main dish I ordered Teppan Buta Kimuchi which is actually hotplate beef with egg yolk and thick kimchi sauce. The sauce is so tasty to be eaten with white rice.

Spicy Miso Ramen (RM 17)

Ever since I got back from Tokyo, I almost didn't want have ramen anymore temporarily because I had ramen 3 times there as that is the cheapest food there. But you would regret if you don't order this ramen that comes in very big portion! The taste is just incredible with the best spice. I assure you will keep slurping the soup too. There are so much ingredients and vegetables like bean sprouts, carrots, black fungus that made me more satisfied that the measly ramen I had in Tokyo for expensive price.

Gyoza (RM 8)

After finishing dinner, I saw a little girl eating gyoza and could not help myself from ordering that too. The gyoza is much better than the one at dim sum shops. The gyoza are very tiny and have thin skin with a lot of pork meat inside. Very satisfying and I am definitely ordering this again.
