Genki Sushi

We were eyeing Genki Sushi for quite a while ever since they opened. Initially, the menu had very few choices and also quite expensive. It seems that quite a while of not having many customers, they finally decided to widen the variety. Surprisingly, when we went on Labour's Day 1 May 2019, there were quite a number of people. I guess for eateries, it seems more exciting to have more people as it signifies that the food is good. Most of the customers were families with kids due to the train.

The excitement of the train to serve the food means that we sit anxiously with the camera with the video mode on. I think I only got the video right after so many takes, and also with other people's orders.

Most cold and hot food are delivered by the train except the set meals. Green Tea cost RM 1.80 per glass and you get the train to deliver the cups to you, this also saves too much cost on manpower of waiters. We just need to mix the matcha powder ourselves and pour hot water.

Aburi Sushi Set (RM 29.80)

The sushi set is quite worth the price paid as it came with miso soup, chawanmushi, salad, croquette and 6 pieces of sushi which were mostly salmon or prawn based with mentai, which is rare for set meals to have all the seafood included and normally have some cheap items like cucumber california rolls.

Salmon Kama Karaage (RM 5.80)

The deep fried salmon was quite tasty, juicy and crispy. We saw many people ordering chicken karaage but I didn't because didn't think it was special enough to order karaage. Moreover, the salmon had promotion at RM 5.80 instead of RM 10.80

Soft Shell Crab Maki (RM 6.80)

The maki is quite big and has a lot of ingredients inside and definitely much better than Sushi Zanmai whereby the sushi rice has some harder bits.

Spicy Salmon Maki (RM 6.80)

This is simply to die for, so amazingly delicious! They are quite generous with the salmon and ingredients too.

Dai Man Zoku (RM 4.80)

The highlights here are the Dai Man Zoku which are sushi with bigger slices and little rice! It reminds me of my time in Osaka, for Malaysia, it is something one could only eat at expensive fine dining Japanese restaurant, but Genki Sushi has made it affordable! We ordered Unagi and Hamachi (Yellowtail) which were so fresh and just delectable to have the silky smooth fish on the tongue.

The normal sushi like Smoked Kamo Gunkan (RM 3.80) was a tad too salty so try not to order this.
Chuka Hotate (RM 3.80) was normal, the only thing I like about it was it has little rice for all the sushi here.

Our meal came up to total of RM 81.20 including service surcharge RM 7 and 6% service tax of RM 4.20

Odette Music Restaurant & Bar

Initially, I was a bit apprehensive about this place as it might turn out as just another nice-looking themed restaurant with horrible food as the photos in the Facebook looks normal only. But then again, I was not sure of other more affordable places that is instagrammable after a lot of research on food haunts since last night, I finally relented on the this and boy was I glad I did!

We were truly amazed by the grandeur of the place! The greenery, one of a kind chandelier with pigeons and flowers make it look like an enchanted castle. It was like being transported into fairy tale land!

That explains the crowd at that time, and if you come in couple, there is not many tables available as most tables are long tables catered for gathering. Many came here dressed in nines, celebrating birthdays so you can see many of the customers' cakes placed in the fridge. Odette is definitely a restaurant that makes sophisticated dining affordable for the masses. You can order Asian cuisine such as fried rice for only RM 11-12 and pasta at less than RM 20.

There was even live Saxophone tonight and other nights there are different band each time but the ambience is classier than Wings Cafe.

Creamy Garlic Grill Fish (RM 21.90)

All the western fare comes with fried wedges and fresh salad (which is not mayonaise ladden like those lower rank cafes). Guess they made it all wedges as french fries easily gets soggy. The fish is just normal, nothing special but for that price, no complaints.

Grilled Australia  Lamb Rack (RM 68)

The lamb rack is something I regret ordering because the portion is just too small and nothing special as well though the name looks expensive.

Ocean Delight Pizza (RM 26.90)

Due to small portion of the food, we were not full enough so we ordered the pizza which was thin crusted, crispy and so tasty. However, the only seafood we see is the fake crab filament so ingredients wise, it's not much but they make it up for the crispiness.

Fruity Wine (RM 23)

The cocktails are alsos reasonable priced at RM 22 above and really tasty compared to the cocktails in any bar in Scott Garden Old Klang Road.

Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc (RM 20)

Every celebration calls for a beer! It was not bad for draft beer and not as diluted as the one in Scott Garden priced at more than RM 30 for a glass.

Some camwhoring that is a must in an enchanted castle!

On the second floor, one can rent the entire place for parties and it looks really sophisticated!
