Minami Yoshukuya

Last Saturday, 2 hungry people (me and Jonathan) who haven't had breakfast,  went to Puchong to look for lunch and ended up at a fusion Japanese restaurant, Minami Yoshukuya which I saw in some website.

The place turned out to look so much better than I have imagined with the marvel cartoon painted wall.

Saba Fish Set (RM 17.50)

This is another Japanese restaurant serving Japanese  food at affordable price besides Fujiyama. The saba is beautifully grilled with butter till succulent , fragrant and still retains the tenderness. There is a huge bed of very thinly sliced raw cabbage too. The side dishes are lobak, miso soup and also white rice.

Tomato Chicken Spaghetti (RM 10.50)

Surprisingly there are 4 items sold at RM 9.50 - RM 13 such as this and some don. The chicken is so tender and juicy and goes well with the pasta which has so much bolognaise sauce.

I am definitely making a comeback here for the tasty and affordable food fusion Japanese food. There are many more things to try and they have coffee too.

Our whole bill came up to a mere RM 30.80 only for dinner for 2 pax which was amazing deal!

Little Korea @ Jaya Shopping Centre

Every time I have something to do in Section 14, and if I didn't have Korean food recently, I will definitely visit Little Korea as they have incredibly cheap lunch sets. This time round I went with Jonathan to Jaya Shopping Centre on a Saturday to watch Kingsman at TGV.

Ginseng Chicken

This is my first time ordering this here, as I wanted to try something different. Also, there was a promotion for this. A table beside us, the couple each ordered the ginseng chicken whereas for us, we rarely order the same thing together so we can try more varieties! The soup is just so-so.

Grilled Chicken

Somehow, it is the first time I eat Korean food whereby the presentation looks so simple, almost like chap fan (mixed rice) and doesn't look so tasty. Well, presentation is always important to make the food look appetising. It comes with 3 banchans that are Korean bean sprouts, ikan bilis and the ubiquitous kimchi.

The good thing about eating here is they always give complimentary Korean steamed egg which is expensive if ordered separately and would always cost RM 15.

Shokudo Japanese Curry Rice

I have passed by this cafe many times in Taman Paramount, and finally decided to try it today since I am in the vicinity on a Saturday. It was raining so I didn't want to spend too much time looking for other cafes.

Before they opened this cafe, previously this same place was used to sell hotdogs but probably it was too big a space to sell only hotdogs. So they maintained the same design of long canteen styled chair and tables that are more for sharing of the patrons.

Tori Katsu Curry (RM 16)

All the items can be made into a set by adding RM 4 for small bowl of salad, soup and ocha. The deep fried chicken katsu is beautifully fried with very thin layer of flour and breadcrumbs, which is the way I like it. The pickles are also tasty.

Shio Ramen (RM 18)

It took a very long time for the ramen to come and I was already starving.

This is more like a salad ramen with shredded omelette, fake crabmeat filament sticks, ham, Japanese cucumber and cherry tomatoes. They added the Japanese pickled bamboo which has a weird smell that makes me puke so I quickly removed all the bamboo. I added a half-boiled egg for RM 2. I poured in sesame sauce and enjoyed the ramen but after eating halfway, it was a bit too creamy for me.

For total price of RM 40 for 2 pax eating simple food like that, probably I will not come again as I can get the food at a much cheaper price.

Samet Thai

It was a long time since I have been to the original Samet Thai in Kuchai Lama and decided to bring Jonathan here since I felt like having Thai food but not wanting to spend a bomb on it. The food here is all cooked and operated by Thai people.

Clear Tomyam Soup

The clear tomyam soup is very sour and not spicy enough but of course there are a lot of ingredients inside like octopus, prawns and vegetables. I always thought the clear soup is spicier than the red soup.

Pineapple Fried Rice

The Thai people always know how to fry the most original pineapple rice till very fragrant with fried egg, prawns and octopus. There is creative garnishing with the pineapple designed to look like a fan.

BBQ Pork Neck

I am not a big fan of pork so I thought I would skip this dish but ended up eating so many pieces of the tender pork neck. I also like this cafe due to the varieties of Thai handmade chilli and sambal paste that I took 3 types of them.

Chen Chen Ho Steamboat

I felt like having steamboat out of a sudden even though we were in Klang to repair Jonathan's iphone. So after visiting Amway Klang Shop till 6 pm, we went to Chen Chen Ho Steamboat for dinner.

The Steamboat combo costs RM 17.90 per pax and one has to order at least a minimum for 2 pax. It costs additional RM 8 for Pork Bone Soup and about RM 4-5 for laksa soup which is not that great.

The steamboat set contains a lot of ingredients inside for 1 pax so I decided to order the steamed lala with wine inside for RM 23. There are quite a few varieties of items to order for cooking but a lot of them were not available.

Due to the affordable price for the steamboat here, the place is brimming with customers on a Saturday night, who can choose to dine outside or inside or even in the a/c area.

Basil Pasta House

Since I have always raved about Basil Pasta House, Jonathan also wanted to try the food here. So here we are.

Aglio Olio (RM 14.90)

Jonathan had the Aglio Olio and added bacon for RM 5.90. The portion is very big which is the reason why I always like Basil Pasta for the reasonable price, good taste and no stinge on ingredients.

Duck Bolognese (RM 21.90)

I ordered the tube pasta to be cooked with the Duck Bolognese as the thick sauce would be great to coat the tube pasta very thoroughly. It is beautifully cooked with cherry tomatoes and also shimeji mushrooms.

Senya Solaris Dutamas

I went to Publika to try out the kimono in the Japanese fest so we had lunch at Senya as we were dead hungry. I initially thought that Senya is expensive because in the past, I saw their menu was quite expensive in The Curve area.

Aji Set (RM 24.80)

This set comes with grilled Aji fish which was not bad, salad and miso soup. The Japanese fried tofu was also so tasty.

Salmon Roll (RM 18.80)

The Salmon Roll is quite tasty with thick slabs of fresh salmon on them.

Mon Boulangerie & Kitchen

Nowadays, I prefer to highlight my hair than dyeing my hair because my highlights for my wedding dinner lasted from February till October and also, when the dye wears off, it is not that visible. I had my done by the Boss of Hair Colour Expert, Shaun, at RM 88.90 (Colouring for Long Hair), Additional RM 50 for highlight chemical, Nano Treatment (RM 68.90). After the highlight, it felt like a total makeover that makes me glow and my hair feels lighter. Then, we walked to the opposite row of cafes to hunt for dinner place. After a short stroll, finally and coincidentally, we went to Mon Boulangerie and Kitchen which happened to be my favourite western restaurant due to the affordable prices and tasty food. They are also never stingy with the ingredients.

Iced Peach Tea (RM 7.50)

The iced peach tea is served in a big jar which is quite a big portion enough for 2 pax.

Tom Yum Seafood Spaghetti (RM 16.90)

I almost ordered my favourite pesto seafood spaghetti again but Jonathan asked me to try other food so both of us ended up ordering from the New Menu and I ordered Tom Yum Seafood Spaghetti as it looks unique. It turned out to be the next best thing besides the pesto. The tom yum is very thick, spicy and a little sour, just like how tom yum should be, and has quite a lot of gravy too to cover the spaghetti entirely. There are also mussels, big prawns, octopus, fake crabmeat and mushrooms too.

Chicken Maryland (RM 18.90)

This is also one of the new dishes they serve. The chicken is deep-fried till super crispy and not too oily with not too much breadcrumbs. There are also fried egg, wedges, sausage, cauliflower and broccoli which made the price very worth it. The sauce and chicken are also not too salty.

Tiny Temptress

After reading bloggers and my own colleague's Facebook post on this place, finally today, after highlighting my hair at Hair Colour Expert together with a Nano hair treatment all done by the boss Shawn, we sweated our way walking and walking looking for Tiny Temptress which was so tiny and secluded we could not find it and had to call them to get live directions. We ended up at Moonlight Cakehouse. It is actually located in the same row with Muzeum bar, U Mobile and a Japanese iced dessert shop.

Jonathan was sweating profusely by the time we reached the shop at the first floor. There was no one at the shop except us. There was a young female waitress at the counter and I ordered their most famous items Bear Necessity. The other famous item is called L'affection in the shape of a heart. I didn't order  any drink as I have spent a lot this weekend and on Deepavali holiday outing.

Bear  Necessity at RM 14.90 was simply sinful with the rich chocolate ganache coating the oolong mixed with chocolate inside and a biscuit base. Jonathan could not taste the oolong but I could which was strong enough not to be overpowered by the chocolate.

There are free sky juice for patrons as well. I drank 2 glasses of water to drown the the chocolatey feel.
