Naj & Belle

We passed by Naj & Belle few times but every time, I couldn't bear to part with my penny for such exorbitantly priced cakes that cost almost RM20ish per cake. There are many who are affluent enough to afford it and always like to hang out there during tea time.

Since we have been eyeing the watermelon cake for so long, we finally relented and decided to try one day, since life is short! I guess I was also influenced by my friend's sister's Facebook post about the watermelon cake in Australia.

I sat at the outside alfresco dining which has lots of sunlight normally but it was a rainy day. The cake was very sinful and pure bliss. The high price is probably because they need to layer the strawberries (an expensive fruit in Malaysia) and also put in fresh cream. The cake was also not as sweet as conventional cakes. Truly bliss

Mykori

Mykori is so famous in Malaysia for the shaved ice but I haven't tried it! I'm speaking the truth! It is because I could not bear to spend so much for just a giant shaved ice!

So finally, since I had itchy mouth, decided to try its famous Honey Dew Shaved Ice which was quite a good experience. It was such a challenging task for both of us to finish the entire huge shaved ice but had to finish it no matter how since it cost us almost RM20 ++ for that alone!

Tansen Izakaya

Every time my parents come, I would have to spend a lot of time googling for new food places as my mum wants to dine in a high class or at least air-conditioned, clean restaurant. This time, since it was during CNY on 9th Day of CNY, there were not many restaurants that are opened or not many that she hasn't tried since I always have some personal favourites. Moreover, mum's Chinese Birthday is on this day.

Let's say the power of Facebook Ads pushed to me the Tansen Izakaya advertisement of RM8.88 sashimi whenever 4 pax dines.

This is the washroom (left)! They even have private cubicles for 1 pax!

Boy was I disappointed when I arrived there are the promotion has ended. Probably it was for CNY period. Anyway, since we came here, we checked out the place. There was a promo that if we order 2 Sapporo Beer Mugs, we can order any of the appetizers for merely RM8 so I have used that promotion to the max.

We were lucky they gave us a free appetizer which happened to be the expensive Braised Salmon Fish Head! It was such a tasty appetizer and made us so happy.

Kushikatsu Set (RM8)

This is the cheapest Kushikatsu ever in Malaysia or even Japan! It came with 2 ebi and 1 stick of shitake mushrooms deep fried to perfection and the crisp maintained.

Salmon Fried Rice (RM16)

The Salmon Fried Rice was an expensive fare but the portion was as small as a normal white rice bowl. It was full of aroma from the garlic and so tasty!

Yakitori Set (RM8)

The Yakitori Set came with BBQ pork, chicken and ladies fingers. Just a tad salty and the pork was not tender enough.

Bacon Okonomiyaki (RM19)

Initially, I was a little hesitant to order this as not many Malaysians can make nice okonomiyaki like the Japanese but luckily when it arrived, I wasn't disappointed but it was quite tasty.

Steamed Grouper (RM28)

The steamed grouper was touted to be one of the popular dishes and to me, anything steamed is better than those unhealthy fried stuff. We were so shocked that the RM28 grouper came in such a small portion and nothing to shout about it, bet I could make better one at home!

Chicken Namban (RM8)

The Chicken Namban was very oily, but unique that it was deep fried with egg till golden brown.

Agegyoza (RM8)

Gyoza was normally a favourite of ours but when it arrived, it was too small and not tasty at all.

Although it seems that most of the items cost RM8, but finally the whole dinner cost RM135.30! Perhaps I was too greedy and ordered too much!

Super Saigon @ Bangsar

I don't know what is with me or my family with Vietnamese food but we simply love it together. Marilyn and I were cracking our heads trying to find the perfect hang out place for Dec meet up, as we do every year due to the long holidays we take to clear leave that time. After complicating many places, I finally agreed with Super Saigon suggested by Marilyn which was superb as the name suggested and also helped me to discover another hidden gem which I vow to come back for more trials of the other restaurants there.

Super Saigon is quite rare as it is an instagrammable Vietnamese restaurant compared to typical Vietnamese Restaurants which prefer the traditional Vietnamese decor.

We both ordered the beef pho as that is what they are famous for. Since we are definitely going to chat for long, due to the long delayed meet up, I ordered the iced coffee. The price of the food and drink came up to RM30.

An Viet (Non-Halal)

An Viet is quite ubiquitous in Malaysian malls like Sunway Pyramid and also Paradigm and yours truly have dined in both outlets, Sunway was with my parents as they like Vietnamese food as much as I do, whereas at Paradigm Mall which happens to be our favourite place to watch movies.

Rarely or never have I seen any Vietnamese Restaurant doing sampling except An Viet at Paradigm Mall whereby they even had a model dressed in Vietnamese traditional attire attracting customers by asking us to spin the Wheel of Fortune and get free vouchers to be redeemed with any order of main meal when we dine inside. They also serve samples of the Vietnamese paper spring roll and even the beef stew which was so delectable. Naturally, as all people do, after the sampling, we went into the restaurant for our weekend dinner!

Banh Mi with Braised Beef (RM24.80)

The beef was so tender and juicy. The portion was very small albeit it came in a sizzling pot that looks big. It was simply heavenly to dip the banh mi into the beef sauce.

Pork Vermicelli (RM18.90)

As usual, the vermicelli always wins. Even better the outlet here had a condiment counter whereby you could go crazy mixing the Vietnamese spices and add as much as you please!

I really love the free Sugarcane Prawn and also Fried Spring Roll. Guess I was too greedy to order so much and ended up unable to sleep due to a heavy tummy!
